wen(li)do
a wholistic and practical approach to women’s safety with the focus on instilling confidence, learning strategies to handle everyday harassment, overstepping of boundaries, and yes, effective techniques to handle potentially life-threatening confrontations. Full benefit is achieved in in-person workshops, online is the next best…
Wenlido workshops
This is where we unlock the thinking that stops us from responding effectively in potentially dangerous situations.
The program includes practical exploration of personal safety issues (in both the public and private spheres), awareness, avoidance and assertiveness, including handling the challenges of sexual assault, internalized powerlessness and family/relationship violence.

we say no to abuse
in-person: 2 to 3 day workshop with approximately 16 to 18 hours of instruction
Wenlido is designed to be delivered with hands-on personalized instruction fit to the group’s needs. We teach grounding and breathing techniques, we problem solve common & current issues through role playing, and we explore how to apply Wenlido prinicpals such as de-escalation, changing the script, shortening the moment of shock, and many more. Finally, we learn effective methods to use protective use of force when necessary. These workshops run optimally with 8 – 18 participants in residential or community spaces.
live online series: 7 sessions of aprox 2 hrs
Although online is second-best to in-person workshops, there are some benefits to this offering such as anonymity in sharing through interactive online interface Mentimeter, flexibility in scheduling of 2 hour sessions and the convenience of meeting together from home. Many of the tools are shared and practiced such as grounding and breathing practices, some role playing, applying and exploring Wenlido principals, and experience sharing. Physical techniques for the protective use of force cannot be shared in the same way as they are in person when meeting online, which is why a 1-day follow up session is recommended for local participants.
ongoing practice groups
for those who have completed the Wenlido program: Online practice groups are offered and in-person ones are self organized.
Intention: to continue integrating the tools/techniques as well as ongoing mutual support.
